About this event

2012 GEO National Conference

Presenting this session will be NFF's David Greco and GEO's Nancy Murphy

Different scaling efforts require different kinds and amounts of money — and very different grantmaking strategies and approaches. Grantmakers looking to help nonprofits scale need to be savvy, knowing how to engage potential and current grantees in conversations about their financial situation and needs; understanding some of the possible institutional and environmental constraints to implementing changes; and knowing how to gain staff and board buy-in when deciding how to support grantees. Drawing on lessons and examples from NFF’s work as part of GEO’s Scaling What Works initiative, this session will explore considerations that grantmakers need to take into account as they strive to increase the sustainability of the efforts they fund in pursuit of advancing their missions.

Eligibility

The GEO 2012 National Conference is open to current GEO members; Philanthropy Northwest members; all staff and trustees of grantmaking institutions; staff of philanthropy-supporting infrastructure groups, such as regional associations of grantmakers and affinity groups; and staff of academic institutions and programs focused primarily on the study of philanthropy and the practice of giving.
