New Jersey Arts Initiatives (2004-current)

NFF NJ has a strong history of providing critical consulting services to the New Jersey arts and cultural community. In addition to developing a Critical Financial Services Program, co-sponsored with the New Jersey State Council on the Arts (NJSCA), we've provided Office Hours, individualized financial consulting, and a variety of workshops tailored to arts organizations.

Critical Financial Services Program

Co-sponsored with the New Jersey State Council on the Arts (NJSCA), this program is aimed at developing a comprehensive understanding of the financial health and trends of the nonprofit arts industry in New Jersey and assisting organizations in achieving greater financial health.  Over the history of the program, NFF has provided a range of services including financial consultations, re-granting and recoverable loans, financial leadership clinics and workshops to NJSCA grantees.  This year, the program includes the following:

  • Audit Review & Financial Summaries (ARFS)- NFF supports the Council with an ongoing delegated underwriting function, analyzing the financial reports sent in by applicant and grantee organizations and providing a clear one-page summary of financial health for use by the Council, Grants Committee, and organization.  In 2011 NFF published a guide for organizations to read and interpret their ARFS report.
  • Workshops, Webinars, Office Hours, and Individualized Consulting for NJSCA Grantees

Additional Work in the Arts

The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, the Prudential Foundation and the Victoria Foundation also support NFF’s work in the arts in New Jersey, including Office Hours engagements, individualized consulting, and financial education workshops for nonprofit managers.
