The Kresge Foundation has announced its Green Building Initiative, a national educational and grant program encouraging nonprofit leaders to consider building green the next time they embark on a capital project. The Foundation will make incentive planning and capital grants available to eligible organizations for sustainable, green building projects. NFF will develop and present workshops nationwide to support the education program.
"We are thrilled by the opportunity to contribute to this exciting program and enhance our capital project planning workshops nationally to embrace environmental principles as well as financial sustainability principles," said Clara Miller, NFF President and CEO. "We intend to incorporate these principles into our regular workshops as best practices, rather than treating them as 'extras.'" Watch this site for locations and dates of NFF 2004 workshops.
As part of the educational component of its Green Building Initiative, The Kresge Foundation is making available a series of educational materials designed specifically for nonprofits to help them understand the green approach and consider it the next time they build.
