NFF DC approves $700,000 loan to expand a career center for DC immigrants

Each year, over 400 recent immigrants benefit from services provided by the Carlos Rosario International Career Center: classes in English as a second language, vocational training, civic education, leadership and public speaking.

When the Center outgrew its old location, NFF approved a $700,000 leasehold improvement loan to launch its relocation and expansion.

To help more new immigrants succeed in both the job market and the community, the Center's new home will include:

  • 80,000 sq. ft. of renovated, high-tech space in an historic building
  • a new commercial kitchen for the Center's acclaimed culinary arts program
  • state-of-the-art technology classrooms for its popular computer support training program
  • added room for the Center's Public Charter School, the first charter school for adults in the U.S.
