Financial Leadership Clinic

JOIN YOUR PEERS In An INTERACTIVE EXPLORATION OF NONPROFIT FINANCE

Your nonprofit is doing great work, making a positive impact in your community. But do you really understand how your nonprofit's finances connect to its vital mission? Nonprofit Finance Fund's Financial Leadership Clinic delves into what every nonprofit leader needs to know about the role finance plays in supporting nonprofit mission and program.

"The [Financial Leadership] Clinic allows you to take a step back and evaluate how you can be of better service with the resources you have available. I am now able to tell my organization's financial story in a concise and accurate way." Wendy Blom, Executive Director, Somerville Community Access Television, Somerville, MA

The two-day interactive Clinic is a unique opportunity to bring your key staff and board members together to examine thoroughly the crucial financial underpinnings of your organization. Through the use of real-life case studies and financial information drawn from IRS Forms 990 and audits, the Financial Leadership Clinic will provide you and other participating nonprofits with:
  • A greater understanding of nonprofit finance
  • Customized financial analysis of your organization
  • An insider look at the financials of similar nonprofits

FINANCIAL LEADERSHIP CLINIC AT A GLANCE

Alongside four to six nonprofits in your sector, over the course of two days you will learn to:
  • Read and interpret your own financial documents
  • Understand the dynamics of your business model
  • Identify your nonprofit's specific financial needs and objectives
  • Better articulate financial management goals to your staff, constituents, board members and potential funders

Nonprofit Finance Fund provides follow-up coaching between day one and day two of the Clinic, and offers customized technical assistance after completion.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE FINANCIAL LEADERSHIP CLINIC:

The Financial Leadership Clinic is designed for four to six grantees chosen by the funder in consultation with NFF. NFF generally suggests they be small to mid-sized organizations in a similar sector with operating budgets between $250,000 and $3 million.

For the Clinic to be most effective for leadership, Nonprofit Finance Fund asks that the Executive Director and a senior finance staff member participate on both days and that a Board Member join for a portion of the second day.
